Margate Lifeboat - August 2004

A short interlude in the London series while I sort out the rest of the day's images.

Meanwhile, here's a shot of Margate's Lifeboat as it responded to a call last week. When the tides out, the lifeboat has to be towed across the harbour floor before it can launch. The whole process takes about 20 minutes. Fortunately, on this occasion the call was from a small fishing boat stranded in still waters, so time wasn't of the essence and they were towed back to safety within the hour.
